Friday Rush Hour Unlucky For Motorists

Friday evenings can generate a lot of traffic as people are rushing home after a long week at work. But this means the end of the week is now the peak time for car accidents.

The Penalties For Driving With No Insurance

Motorists who break the law are facing ever increasing penalties in a crackdown on insurance shirkers. In the UK there are an estimated 1.2 million people, around one in twenty motorists - who regularly take to the wheel whilst uninsured. At the same time, respectable motorists have to fork out an estimated 30 each year to cover the cost of claims made against uninsured drivers.

AA Survey Shows People Are Still Uncertain Of UK Motoring Laws

A recent poll carried out by the AA has shown that nearly one quarter of the 19,000 people questioned were unaware that it is illegal to use a mobile phone whilst supervising a learner driver. Around one in ten people were also unaware that it was illegal to fall asleep at the wheel. The current law states that when you are supervising a learner driver you are in effect responsible for the actions of that driver.

Regulators Clamp Down On Incorrect Wills

Over the last twelve to eighteen months there seems to have been an increase in reports of cases where changes in wills are not legally made and where whole wills are not legally binding, as well as there being a number of cases where the funds or assets left in a will are stolen or under played, meaning the true beneficiaries never receive what is rightfully theirs.

Driving Test Changes

Driving test candidates will now have to drive without instructions from an examiner for the first part of their test, thanks to changes by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). Instead of publishing set routes online, candidates will be expected to drive independently a route shown to them in advance. It has been made clear, however, that reminders can still be given and drivers will not be automatically failed from diverging from the route.
