AA Survey Shows People Are Still Uncertain Of UK Motoring Laws
A recent poll carried out by the AA has shown that nearly one quarter of the 19,000 people questioned were unaware that it is illegal to use a mobile phone whilst supervising a learner driver. Around one in ten people were also unaware that it was illegal to fall asleep at the wheel. The current law states that when you are supervising a learner driver you are in effect responsible for the actions of that driver.
Driving Test Changes
Driving test candidates will now have to drive without instructions from an examiner for the first part of their test, thanks to changes by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). Instead of publishing set routes online, candidates will be expected to drive independently a route shown to them in advance. It has been made clear, however, that reminders can still be given and drivers will not be automatically failed from diverging from the route.
Speeding Guns Don’t Work
Britain’s most lucrative speed camera has been named and shamed, and the local community is furious. It has emerged that a new speed camera erected on a road where there has been just one serious accident in over ten years, has netted over 1.3m pound in revenue from speeding motorists per year.
